History
My name is Bertha Alicia Vega Saldaña. I was born in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, in September 1973. I am the fourth of six children. My parents are Francisco Vega and Socorro Saldaña, who have been united for 53 years in a strong, loving marriage. I am immensely proud of them; they are my strength and my role models, and I am deeply grateful for the unconditional love and support I have always received from them. In their honor, I chose the name for my school: VEGA’S—”Vega” for my father’s last name, and the “S” for Saldaña, my mother’s last name.
In 1991, I enrolled in the Atenas Beauty School in Tepic, where my dream began from the very first day of class. It was then that I discovered this profession was my true calling and my essence in life. I love helping people enhance their beauty and feel good about themselves. From that day on, I told myself, “One day, I will own a beauty school.” I will never forget Lucy and Horacio, the owners and instructors of the Atenas school. With their years of experience and their chain of salons called “Gente Joven,” they sparked my vision and nurtured my talents until I became a professional stylist.
I began my career working at one of the “Jóvenes” salons. Later, I opened my own salon in various locations, always deeply in love with and dedicated to my profession. That is what gives meaning to my life. Whenever I am behind a styling chair, I am transported back to my beginnings; I still get excited, and even with 25 years of experience, my work continues to inspire me. That is why my purpose is to help others pursue their dreams and discover their talents in the world of beauty. In 2007, I decided to open my first beauty school in Tepic, called “JEALCA.” The name was inspired by my children: Jennifer, Alberto, and Carolina. Although I eventually had to leave that project, it proved to me that dreams do come true.
Today, by the grace of my Creator, God, I am here embarking on this new venture: VEGA’S. This is an opportunity for both men and women to channel their unique talents, grow, and build a better future for themselves and their families, just as I have done.
